Lancaster County is the fourth-oldest county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and its population of more than half a million residents is the sixth-highest among state counties. The city of Lancaster is the county seat but because so much of the area is agricultural farmland, Lancaster County is largely comprised of boroughs, townships, census designated places, and unincorporated communities.
Many of these municipalities have their own police departments, but the county is also served by the Lancaster County Chiefs of Police Association, Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, and Pennsylvania State Police. Several major roadways run through Lancaster County, including a section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Interstate 76, the Lincoln Highway), and many other busy roads.
The variety of highways that run through the county mean that motorists are frequently pulled over and either ticketed for major traffic violations or arrested for driving under influence (DUI) of alcohol or controlled substance. These are just a few of the many criminal charges that residents all over Lancaster County are charged with in state courts.
Ciccarelli Law Offices aggressively defends clients accused of drunk driving as well as drug crimes, gun or weapon charges, and many other misdemeanor and felony offenses. Our firm handles cases in state courts and federal courts throughout Pennsylvania.
Our attorneys work as a team to develop the strongest possible defenses and get criminal charges reduced or completely dismissed. Let Ciccarelli Law Offices review by calling (610) 719-3200 today to schedule a free, confidential consultation.
Drunk driving is one of the more common criminal offenses in the county and the entire Commonwealth. Alleged offenders face very serious consequences if they are convicted or plead guilty, including possible jail time, steep fines, and the loss of driving privileges.
While many people have a tendency to think that they do not need to hire a lawyer because they know they were guilty, it is still tremendously beneficial to have legal representation. There may be any number of factors in these types of arrests that can lead to evidence being suppressed or charges being thrown out.
Ciccarelli Law Offices handles such DUI cases as:
There are several other types of criminal charges that county residents face, and the possible penalties vary depending on the classification of the specific crime. Our firm understands that many of these offenses not only have the possibility of immediate punishments like lengthy terms of imprisonment and significant fines, but convictions can also have extremely damaging long-term effects on the personal and professional lives of alleged offenders.
We represent people in Lancaster County with the following types of criminal cases:
Alleged offenders who fail to appear in court or pay fines may have bench warrants issued for their arrests. When an alleged offender is arrested on a bench warrant, he or she will be held in Lancaster County Prison until a bench warrant hearing can be scheduled.
Under Rule 150 of the Lancaster County Rules of Criminal Procedure, the Lancaster County Prison Warden or his designee is required to notify the District Court Administrator within 12 hours of the alleged offender being committed to the prison. The District Court Administrator then schedules a hearing within 72 hours and gives notice of the hearing to the Office of the Public Defender, District Attorney’s Office, and the Clerk of Courts for Lancaster County. Each of the first two offices assign an attorney for the hearing, and the judge who issued the bench warrant conducts the hearing unless he or she has appointed an alternate.
